Swim Without Borders is a stand alone
event featuring a terrific open water swim in the Straight of Georgia from
International Peace Arch Park, British Columbia, Canada to Semiahmoo Spit,
Blaine, Washington, USA. This is a unique opportunity to swim from
from country to another. The swim takes place at slack tide. Currents will
not be an issue. Water safety will be provided by the Coast Guard Auxiliary,
certified Life Guards and volunteer kayakers.

WAIKIKI ROUGHWATER SWIM
Top finishers will qualify for the
2006 Honolulu Rough Water swim -- September 2006. Details are being
refined. Watch this site for event news.
Location:
Birch Bay, WA and White Rock, BC. 30 miles north of
Bellingham, WA and 40 miles south of Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Unique
Course: The
Open Water (Ultra) swim starts at Peach Arch Park in Canada, heads due west
out and around the international boundary buoy and then ends south at Semiahmoo Spit
USA.
It is shown below in Red (the Olympic and Sprint swims are for the
triathlons)

Check In/Logistics:
Swim
Participants must check in at the US side of the border by 8:10AM AND
MUST HAVE DRIVEN THROUGH THE US CUSTOMS CROSSING AND SHOWN PASSPORT OR BIRTH
CERTIFICATE & PHOTO ID. Be sure to give yourself time to get
through the border and park your car at the Peace Arch State Park in BLAINE
(not the Provincial Park.)
To get there from Canada, cross the border at
Peach Arch. Take the first exit and cross under the freeway heading
East. Go north 3 blocks on 2nd Street to parking.

If you are being dropped off ...your friend must get to the spit before 8:30
(a 20 minute drive around Drayton Harbor) as the spit traffic will be very
restricted for the triathlon. The spit will make a good viewpoint.
Post race shuttles will be available to transport swimmers back to their
cars at the Blaine State Park after 10:30 AM awards. If you prefer to
park at the Spit pre-race... shuttles will be available from 7:00 - 8:00 AM
to get to the swim start but may be crowded with Triathletes.

below MUST BE ACCOMPANIED WITH PAYMENT WHEN SUBMITTED. Walk-up registration
is available Saturday May 12 at Semiahmoo Resort for 4:00PM to 8:00PM

price includes: race support, post-race food and on course
hydration/food, Hoody sweatshirt for swimmers, finishers awards and unique
medallion - race day insurance.

OPEN WATER SWIM AWARDS: Awards
will be provided as follows.
Top
3 finishers men and women will receive
trophies.
Top Masters male and woman in each race
(40+) will receive trophies
Top Grand Masters male (60+)
and woman (55+).
Medals will be awarded to
top age group winner (not including those who receive top 5 overall awards).
Note: Top three overall athletes in each race will not be included in
determining the Age-Group awards (i.e if the top two males are in the 35-39
category, the third place male will be considered the age-group winner for
award purposes). However, Masters and Grand masters (if not top three
overall) will still receive age-group awards.
Age Groups include:
16-19,20-24, 25-29,
30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 & 70+.
